Congratulations !

 (c) Elena Mayer, MUI
Ira Winkler has won the Best Abstract Award from the Working Group for Science and Research (AGWF) for the third time. Her study, Microstructural maturation of the splenium of the corpus callosum and cognitive outcome at 5 years in very preterm infants: a cohort study, examines the corpus callosum`s microstructural maturity in very preterm infants (born before 32 weeks` gestation) at their expected birth date. Using MRI and neurological assessments, Ira found that greater maturity in this brain region correlates with higher IQ and improved visual processing at age five. Her work is under review for publication.
